The valley it cuts runs east between the Karavanke range and the Julian Alps, and it is this corridor — narrow, forested, steeply walled — that the cables of the bled zipline now cross.
The geography did the engineering work first. Glacial retreat left the Sava Dolinka running well below the surrounding terraces, producing gorge sections where opposing banks stand at markedly different elevations.
